Self care is one of the best things you can be doing for yourself on a regular basis and especially during this time of the virus. Keeping stress levels low is your immune system’s best friend. Sustained elevated cortisol (the stress hormone) levels are toxic and decrease immune function and our ability to fight off disease. Join me for my gentle, user friendly, less is more practice to help you navigate these turbulent times with more ease. Read more on the health benefits of yoga.

Yoga is an excellent self care practice as well as complimentary resource to psychotherapy due to the emphasis on cultivating mind/body awareness and nervous system regulation. Yoga can be used to manage moods, reduce stress, heal from trauma and bring the body/mind back into balance to promote or maintain healing. Julie’s teachings combine the benefits of the physical practice along with ancient, seasonal and earth wisdom and modern insights to create a safe environment within which to explore and grow. Additionally, her classes are:

  • physically nourishing

  • psychologically meaningful

  • emotionally soothing

  • energetically balancing

Julie began practicing yoga in 2001 and has been teaching yoga since 2003 when her desire to share the benefits of this practice led her to her first Yoga Teacher Training. Julie is a registered yoga teacher and has studied with numerous teachers. Her practice and classes are based on attuning with nature, the seasons and lunar cycles and include the wisdom of yoga’s ancient teachings. Julie often refers to herself as a ‘yoga river guide’ as she takes her students on a slow meandering journey to bring participants back to the ‘true self’. In addition to traditional postures, classes include breath work, mindfulness, poetry and yoga psychology. Styles of teaching include gentle, slow flow, restorative and yin with an emphasis on the student cultivating self inquiry and being the main teacher.

Testimonials:

“Thank you for your classes Julie. They are a life line for me! I appreciate your wisdom & poetry finds…. Winter has arrived and I treasure what you bring about seasons, light, Mother Earth….how to take care of ourselves!!” CL

‘For a number of years I have taken yoga classes in studios and on Zoom sessions. Julie’s classes are unique, very special, and fabulous….. Julie combines yoga with how to feel better; how to truly relax and reduce stress and anxiety not only in class but giving us tools so we can use them if needed at other times. For me, Julie’s classes build connection and empowerment. And giving us the recording after each class means you can have your class whenever and wherever you want. I feel so blessed that I found Julie and her wonderful yoga sessions.’ - MP

'When I leave your gentle yoga class, I feel release from tension and this crazy world.
My body feels restored and my mind feels hopeful. I have been dealing with chronic back pain and a back surgery that wasn’t effective, for 10 years. I have 5 herniated lumbar discs and two knee replacements, and all the extended ailments that accompany this. Until I took your class, I couldn’t get off the floor. Your class has improved my body, my mind, my heart and my soul.
I feel restored and rejuvenated. I leave with a smile. Your help especially, has created a new me. You are always encouraging and your reminder to do what we can, gave me permission to be in your class and focus on me. It didn’t matter that I wasn’t thin or fit.  I saw an inspiring sentence that reminds me of you. “By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.’ - DM

‘How to describe your yoga - healing, compassionate, gentle, challenging. I am 64 years old and have been a student of yoga for over 40 years, experiencing it in all of its many iterations and Julie offers one of the best practices I have encountered. If you are looking for an intense, power yoga style of yoga, this is not it. Julie brings her years of experience as a psychotherapist and healer to her practice. It is gentle, yet challenging to the body and Julie is quick to offer modifications for all levels. Every practice offers food for the soul, offering compassionate and healing reminders throughout the practice as well as during final relaxation.’  - MS

‘Before I started your classes several months ago, I had a yearly check-up. I told my doctor that I was having joint pain in my shoulder and hips, and was waking several times during the night. I told him that I was taking an anti inflammatory just to get a good nights sleep. I was sure he would prescribe something stronger and safer, because I know that some meds have side affects. He ask me if I had ever tried yoga, and I told him I had not. He suggested that I give it a try and, thats when I started your gentle yoga classes. I am amazed at how things have changed. I no longer take anti inflammatory meds, and I’m actually sleeping through the night without pain, and have better balance than I’ve had in ages. Thank you for your encouragement, as now I look forward to your classes.’ - NN
