Yoga

Yoga is an excellent self care practice as well as complimentary resource to psychotherapy due to the emphasis on cultivating mind/body awareness. Private sessions are tailored to each individual student focusing on using yoga to manage moods, reduce stress, heal from trauma and bring the body/mind back into balance to promote healing. Julie’s classes combine ancient and seasonal wisdom along with modern insights to create a safe environment within which to explore and grow physically, emotionally and spiritually. Styles of teaching include gentle, restorative and yin.

Julie began practicing yoga in 2001 and has been teaching yoga since 2003 when her desire to share the benefits of this practice led her to her first Yoga Teacher Training. Julie is a registered yoga teacher and has studied with numerous teachers. Her practice and teaching are based on attuning with nature, the seasons and lunar cycles. Julie often refers to herself as a ‘yoga river guide’ as she takes her students on a slow meandering journey to bring participants back to the ‘true self’. In addition to traditional postures, classes include breath work, mindfulness & poetry and yoga psychology.

‘How to describe your yoga - healing, compassionate, gentle, challenging. I am 64 years old and have been a student of yoga for over 40 years, experiencing it in all of its many iterations and Julie offers one of the best practices I have encountered. If you are looking for an intense, power yoga style of yoga, this is not it.  Julie brings her years of experience as a psychotherapist and healer to her practice. It is gentle, yet challenging to the body and Julie is quick to offer modifications for all levels.
