Cultivating Resilience: Wisdom Teachings For Everyday Life. Come prepare for the arrival of Spring

thumbnail-7.jpeg

Many of us are experiencing unprecedented levels of emotional disregulation during this time with a range of feelings including anxiety, depression, grief, fear, sadness and anger. We are in that ‘in-between place’, knowing that some things have gone that may never return and yet the vision of what lies ahead has not come into focus. But just like the butterfly who was helped by the little boy to come out of her cocoon, she did not have the wing strength to fly and perished. Rushing the process was not beneficial. So to for us, we must learn to navigate these unknown places. Fortunately, the tools and strategies are available once we know where to look. As mindfulness teacher Matt Licata says,

Now, more than ever, it is essential to find ways to root our nervous systems, not only to manage core exhaustion and stress, but deepen our relationship with the earth, our hearts and to reconnect with the sacredness of what it means to be a human being alive on the planet at this time.”

Please join me once a month until Spring to cultivate our own ‘wing strength’ through the body, mind, nervous system and nature. We will explore different practices from many wisdom traditions to feel grounded, calm, nourished & cared for in this time of uncertainty. Participants will be offered strategies to find sanctuary and emerge intentionally, using the winter months to prepare for springs’ arrival.

These online sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend in person & available for at least one week. This program can be done from your own home, back yard or local surroundings. In addition to our weekly Zoom call you will receive accompaniment emails that Include highlights from the meeting and practices to utilize :

  • Call reminders with contemplation tips for upcoming session and follow up email with recording link & instructions for monthly focus

  • Breathwork samples

  • Mindfulness Méditations

  • Self care practices

  • Nature invitations

Nature As Medicine Online Course

Suggested donation $30

Many of us are experiencing unprecedented levels of emotional disregulation during this stay at home time with a range of feelings including anxiety, depression, grief, fear, sadness and anger. One of the main sources of refuge for many, including myself, is in the natural world.

‘Nature connection is proven to help regulate the nervous system. This regulation is something we need more than ever. By spending time outside or creating intentional space to connect with nature (even virtually) it can help combat the fear of our global situation, the uncertainty of our future, the confusion and intrusions from media. The healing power of nature can help our immunity and help us feel resourced and interconnected.’ - says clinical eco therapist Lezlie Scaliatine.

This four week course will teach us how to use nature connection to feel grounded, calm, nourished & cared for in this time of uncertainty. Participants will be offered strategies to find sanctuary and emerge intentionally from this time of quarantine & social distancing. We will begin with an online gathering for initiation & instructions and to conclude with final group connection and council share. These online group sessions will be recorded if you are unable to attend in person.

This program can be done from your own home, back yard or local surroundings. In addition to our weekly Zoom call you will receive two emails per week that Include the following :

  • Call reminders and contemplation tips for upcoming session & follow up call with recording link & instructions for weekly focus

  • Earth inspired Breathwork

  • Mindfulness in Nature Méditations

  • Self care practices

  • Nature invitations

To register

Scholarships available contact Maryliz@marylizaustin.com

$125 per person or $135 with lunch option

Suitable for all levels whether new to yoga and mindfulness or an experienced practitioner.

The day consists of various ways to invite mindfulness and present moment awareness into one’s life. Presenters will incorporate traditional sitting and self inquiry, gentle movement & sensory awareness outside and practical tips for enhancing relationships. There will be three modules during the day with breaks and time for a leisurely lunch. Social silence will be encouraged throughout the day to enhance the experience.

The first module will be led by Regina Flanigan, LCPC, Integrative Therapist for Individuals, Couples & Groups and Mindfulness Teacher. She will be reminding us how to be aware of what is going on—in our own mind and bodies, in our relationships and in the world around us. From this starting point, we can begin to pause and respond to our lives with more emotional balance, wisdom and loving kindness.

Module two will be led by Julie Kaus, LCSW-C, Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher & Mindful Outdoor Guide. We will let nature teach us how to reconnect to the living earth through gentle yoga movements, mindful breathing, sensory awareness, nature meditation & Forest Tea Ceremony. The third module will be led by Mary Liz Austin, LCPC, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner & P.A.C.T. Couple Therapist. She will be teaching us how social engagement is a natural way to regulate the nervous system, how to become more aware of who you feel safe with and why and learn ways to co-regulate with a child, partner, friend or favorite animal.
